CHARLES TOWN – After giving up three runs in the top of the second and only scoring a solo run during their time at the plate in the inning, Washington found their groove to rally and complete the comeback win.

Mackenzie Myers first found the bags with a single to center field, followed by Kylie Condon taking a pitch on a 2-2 count and Taylor Cenate walking. Sophie Crowder stepped up with the bases loaded to also face a hit by pitch allowing Myers to pick up a run.

Madison Carlisle got the bats cracking again with grounder, reaching on a failed pass to Emily Black at home. Black was attempting a tag on Condon, but the poor throw allowed her to score. Hannah Ruffner followed Carlisle with a deep fly to center field, bringing in Cenate.

Crowder picked up the Patriots’ fifth run on a wild pitch, and Jordyn Brown picked up a single three pitches later on a 2-2 count. Her hit drove in Carlisle from third and put Ruffner in the final lane.

With Madi Cenate taking the plate after Brown, another wild pitch would allow Ruffner to score. Musselman would then pick up their first out, tagging Brown out at home. Myers took her second rotation in the order for a sac fly, bringing in Madi Cenate to push the lead to 8-3 but a ground out on the next at bat would end the lengthy scoring run.

Washington would hold the Applemen scoreless through the rest of the afternoon, putting up three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to seal the game at 11-3.

Seven of the nine Patriot batters accounted for an RBI in the regional match with Ruffner and Myers making the most noise at the plate. Both went 2-3, picked up a triple a piece, and had two runs.

Cenate took the win giving up two earned runs and two walks while striking out two.

Brianne Stocks picked up the loss for Musselman, giving up six earned runs and two walks. She struck out only one.
