MARTINSBURG – One night after Jefferson handed Martinsburg a 21-1 loss, Washington showed up at Charlotte Prather Park to shut out the Bulldogs 11-0.

The Patriots exploded in the top of the first for a quick 7-0 lead. The jumpstart began with Kylie Condon’s double to center field to push in Myers. Then, Hannah Ruffner grounded to second base to drive in Condon, and was followed with three straight walks by Aaliyah Jaston. Madison Carlisle picked up the hits once more, singling to centerfield to push in Jordyn Brown.

Things were quiet through the next two innings, but Washington tacked on four more runs in the fourth to run away with the game.

Madi Cenate began the scoring drive with a double to push Taylor Cenate home, and Brown followed with a ground out to drive in Madi. That's when Katie Dubyak stepped up to the plate to rip her second pitch over the right field fence for a two-run homer. Two quick outs later and the Bulldogs came in for their final attempt at bat.

On a two-out count Jordan Bohrer singled to Sophie Crowder in center field. Bohrer was followed by Jaston with a single of her own, pushing Bohrer to second. Falcan Yancey had a chance to drive in a run during her plate appearance, but she couldn’t get a hit off of Brown. Yancey would strike out swinging, and the Patriots would advance to an 11-0 record.

Brown took the win for the Patriots, she struck out seven and gave up four hits and no walks.

Jaston took the loss for Martinsburg, pitching for just 0.2 of an inning, giving up one earned run and seven walks. She faced 12 batters and threw 13 strikes.

Carlisle (3-4), Brown (0-2, 1 R) and Dubyak (1-1, 1 R) all picked up two RBI in the regional match.

Washington returns to action Wednesday night with a home game against Hedgesville. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
