There were plenty of accolades to go around Shepherd University’s campus last week when it came to athletics success.

FOOTBALL

Senior place-kicker Hayden Austin-Scriv was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s East Special Teams Athlete of the Week for his efforts in a 55-0, regular-season finale win against Clarion. He was successful on all seven of his extra-point attempts. 

Austin-Scriv also kicked a 20-yard field goal in that game

Teammate Ryan Beach, a redshirt-freshman wideout, was named to the D.C. Touchdown Club’s Honor Roll. He had nine catches for 140 yards and a touchdown in the win over Clarion.

Graduate student defensive lineman Ricky Robinson was named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Through the regular season, he had 33 tackles with 23 solo tackles.

Robinson has a 3.88 grade-point average with a 4.00 GPA while pursuing a master’s in business administration. 

VOLLEYBALL

The Rams are No. 2 in the most recent NCAA Division II Atlantic Region (Nov. 17). Wheeling University has the top-ranked team.

Junior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy and senior middle hitter Georgia Ohmke made the CoSIDA Academic District Volleyball team. Hoy (3.83 GPA) is a nursing major. Ohmke has a 3.47 GPA and is an art (photography) major.

Hoy and Ohmke were also named to the All-PSAC East team. Both were first-team picks.

Hoy leads the Rams in kills, is ranked second in digs and third in assists and service aces. Ohmke lead the conference and Rams in blocks.

 Junior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw was named PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week for her efforts against Millersville University and West Chester University. She had 14 kills with 14 digs and three assists against West Chester.

Rakestraw had 10 kills with 14 digs against Millersville.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Abby Beeman was named PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week (Nov. 15). She had 24 points with nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals against Davis & Elkins College. She also had 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists against Frostburg State University.
