A former assistant men’s basketball coach is returning to Shepherd University, this time in an administrative capacity.
Tim Zeigler, who was the men’s assistant basketball coach for the Rams from 2011-2013, has been named assistant athletics director for external affairs at the school, Chauncey Winbush, Shepherd’s vice president for athletics announced.
“We are really excited to welcome Tim back to Shepherdstown to head up this important position of revenue generation for our department,” Winbush wrote in an email. “As a local product and alumni, I am positive that Tim will have immediate success in this role.”
Zeigler, the former sports and recreation director at the Waynesboro (Pennsylvania) YMCA, has coached at Spring Mills and Berkeley Springs high schools, as well as Hagerstown Community College in Maryland. He has more than 10 years experience in the fitness and athletics fields.
Zeigler’s experience includes coaching, management, fund raising, planning marketing events and interacting with the community. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sports communication from Shepherd. He also gained a master’s degree in sports management from West Virginia University.
“I am thrilled to be working with the athletics department at Shepherd,” Zeigler said. “I look forward to working with community leaders, coaches, student-athletes, Shepherd alumni and staff as we continue to set and achieve new goals for Ram Nation.”
Shepherd center Adam Stilley was named to the PSAC Fall Top Ten, announced by the league office last Friday. A first-team Academic All-American, he started in all 15 games for the Rams in 2022.
Stilley also was named a PSAC Football Champion Scholar and was a second-team All-PSAC East selection.
