SHENANDOAH JUNCTION – On March 26 the Cougars downed Musselman 11-2 for their fifth win of the year. Tuesday night, they one-upped themselves with an 11-0 victory over the same Applemen.
Taylor Tennant, holding the Applemen scoreless through all five innings, threw a four-hit game and gave up just one walk. He struck out three, and pitched into three groundouts and six flyouts.
Cory Daly kicked off the big third inning with a two-run double on a 3-2 count, and Zac Rose followed with a two run double of his own to push the lead to 5-0. Dylan McCartney picked up a single two at bats later to drive in Rose from third, followed by a single by Hayden Stang to center field. Due to E Wilson’s fumble on the play, McCartney and Mason Lantz would find home. Tennant then sent a hard shot to left field, logging a single and pushing in Stang. Two quick outs would end the inning.
Rose (2-3) picked up three RBI in the conference matchup, while Daly went 2-3 for two RBI. Daly had two doubles on the night, and Rose had one – matching Coleson Titus and Jordan Trunnell.
Cole Campbell picked up the loss for the Applemen, giving up eight earned runs and two walks. He struck out two batters.
Tuesday night’s shut out was the Cougars’ second in a row. The team returns to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. with a road game at Berkeley Springs.
