While many Americans were already finalizing plans for the upcoming Thanksgiving Day weekend holidays, Charles Town offered its final stakes race on the calendar last Saturday night when it hosted the $75,000 West Virginia Futurity for state-bred juveniles of both genders.

Heading into the latest edition of the West Virginia Futurity, much of the focus was on Juba’s Notion, who was made the 3-5 favorite after a sharp score in the $75,000 Vincent Moscarelli Memorial on Breeders Classics night. But in the final stakes on the slate this season, it was another son of Juba that emerged with a handy upset score when No Love For Juba (Orlando Bocachica) rallied for a 10-1 upset.

A juvenile son of Juba trained by James W. Casey for owner-breeder Taylor Mountain Farm, No Love For Juba notched his first stakes victory and recorded his second tally from six starts and doubled his earnings past $70,000 while getting the seven panels in 1:29.27. Music Lass, dismissed at 42-1 from post nine, held the place spot in a game effort while Juba’s Notion faded to fourth as the odds-on choice after launching a bid on the far turn.
