Shepherd University used a little bit of everything on Saturday in a 38-13 win at Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania.

The Rams (6-1, 5-1 PSAC) used a mix of their running attack and passing game to generate 450 yards in total offense.

Running back Ronnie Brown rushed for 185 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown. His longest run of the day was an 80-yarder. He also caught a pair of passes from Bagent for 70 yards.

Josh Polce caught a 44-yard TD strike from Bagent in the first quarter.

Chance Swartz had a pair of rushing touchdowns for Shepherd. Avaughn Holley had one rushing TD.

League-leading quarterback Tyson Bagent completed 13 of 28 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown, but he threw three interceptions and was sacked three times.

Millersville struck first in Saturday’s game. Randy Okunga fell on a bad Shepherd punt long snap in the end zone, but the Rams answered with six straight scores, starting with the Bagent-to-Polce touchdown hookup.

Hayden August-Scriven kicked a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter for Shepherd.

As a team, the Rams rushed for 259 yards. Shepherd’s defense contained Millersville to 164 total yards. 

The Rams’ defense intercepted a Millersville pass. Chrys Lane had seven tackles for Shepherd, including four solo tackles. Frankie Stevens had one sack.

The Rams were ranked 15th as of Monday, Oct. 11, in the American Football Coaches Association’s Division II poll.


Shepherd’s girls volleyball team extended its winning streak to 17 with wins over Lock Haven, 3-1, on Friday and a 3-1 decision at Bloomsburg on Saturday.

Mikaylah Hoy had 20 kills, 13 digs and three aces on Friday. Elyssia Smith had five blocks. Kitanna Rakeshaw had four. Victoria Nicholes had 40 assists. Claire Ellis had 27 digs.

Georgia Ohmke had six blocks against Bloomsburg. Nicholes had 40 assists and 23 digs. Ellis had 29.


Shepherd’s soccer team lost a pair of matches this past week.

The Rams lost at UDC on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2-0; then fell at West Chester on Saturday, 2-1. The Rams are 1-12.

Shamar Robinson scored Shepherd’s goal on Saturday on an unassisted play. Billy Wood had eight saves for the Rams. Jose Machado Orellana had one save against UDC.


The Rams women’s soccer team won one of three matches last week.

Shepherd (2-6-1) blanked Mansfield on the road on Monday, Oct. 11, 2-0. Delaney Bittner and Alyssa Nazarok each had a goal for the Rams. Sara Hohn had both assists. 

Lulu Fricks recorded the shutout with seven saves.

Two days later, No. 5 Kutztown edged Shepherd at home, 2-1. Hohn scored the Rams’ goal when she converted a penalty kick. Faith Geraci had a career-high 12 saves. 

West Chester defeated Shepherd at Shepherd on Saturday, 4-2. Paris Kimbrell had both goals for the Rams. Bittner had both assists. Fricks had six saves.


At Saturday’s Hood College Invitational, Shepherd’s men finished ninth. Stephen Rivera led the Rams’ men in 46th place (30 minutes, 58.1 seconds). 

In the women’s race, Shepherd’s Janette Salvador was 39th (23:19.6).
