On January 26, 2023, Linda Andrews Fries Whitmore of Charles Town, WV, rose to Glory.
She was born in Ranson, WV on February 2, 1942, to parents Arthur Donzelle and Marjorie Andrews.
Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald Whitmore, whom she married on August 4, 1978, parents Arthur Donzelle and Marjorie Andrews and sister Hazelteen Dailey.
She is survived by her children Kery Fries and Kami Beddingfield, sister Barbara Viands, brother Donnie Andrews, son-in-law Todd Beddingfield, granddaughter Sophie Beddingfield, sister-in- laws Sue Whitmore and Katie Andrews, brother-in-law Kenneth Whitmore and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda was a graduate of Charles Town High School class of 1960, where she was a head majorette.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education in 1965 and a Master’s in education from WVU then taught for 39 years mostly in Jefferson County, WV.
Linda was a long-time member of Charles Town Baptist Church.
After retiring from Jefferson County Public Schools, Linda was a volunteer at Jefferson County Community Ministries and Shear Image Salon. Linda loved her network of family and friends and participating in many groups and activities including Charles Town Junior Women’s club, Prayer Threads, CEOs, Jefferson County Senior Center, WVEA, the Moms Club, and regular game nights.
Linda continued educating after death by donating to the WV Human Gift Registry.
To honor Linda’s memory and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charles Town Baptist Church stained glass window fund.
A memorial service will be at Charles Town Baptist Church on March 11, 2023 at 2 p.m.
