Mary Alice (Leake) Carson, 88, of Charles Town passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility, Kearneysville.

Born Nov. 28, 1931 in Berryville, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Samuel G. Leake and Lena Frances (Zombro) Leake.

She was a waitress at the New Central for many years.

She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town.

She is survived by her five daughters, Linda Victoria Jennings of Fairmont, Terri Ring and husband Terry, of Middleway, Vanny McDaniel and husband Larry Butts, of Martinsburg. Mary Jacqueline Propst and husband Doug, of Ranson, Angela Mumaw, of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Lill, of Silver Spring, Maryland, Judy M. Bayer, of Martinsburg; also a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton A. “Jack” Carson who died Sept. 18, 2013; sister, Jane Mercer; brothers, Robert Lee Leake, William N. Leake, Billy Dorch Leake and Kenneth G. Leake.

Services and interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.

Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
