John Michael “Mike” Cook, 64, of Ranson died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, Baltimore, Maryland.

He was born March 7, 1955 in Charles Town. He was the son of John H. “Jack” Cook of Ranson and the late Orpha (Miller) Cook.

He was employed with the Loudoun County Board of Education as a Mechanic. Prior, he had been employed at Eastalco Alcoa Works, Frederick, Maryland, Guy’s Buick and GMC and the NAPA Store.

He was of the Methodist Faith.

He graduated from Charles Town High School, class of 1973.

He was an Automobile Enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty A. (Stewart) Cook, at home; daughters, Jessica C. Cook, of Ranson, Amber M. Cook, of Gaylordsville, Connecticut and Michelle L. Cook, of Ranson; grandchildren, Kailey P. Cram, Carson R. Cram, C.J. Lewis, Coleton S. Noland and sister, Diane Bogden and husband Mike, of Charles Town.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019 at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Interment will be private.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County, PO Box 147, Charles Town, WV 25414.
