Robert W. Whitmore, 91, of Kearneysville passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility, Kearneysville.

He was born Dec. 11, 1928 in Martinsburg. He was the son of the late G. Wilson Whitmore and Dora (Hauptman) Whitmore.

Robert retired from the U.S. Postal Service and also was a farmer.

He was a member of the Middleway United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his sons, Jay A. Whitmore and wife Shonda, of Piketon, Ohio, H. Monte Stuckey and wife Patti, of Hagerstown, Maryland; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Caroline W. Hickerson, of Winchester, Virginia; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Janet S. Whitmore who passed away Nov. 11, 2010; sister Edith May Johnston; brothers, George A. Whitmore and Kenneth H. Whitmore.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at the Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg with Pastor Scott Sassaman and Pastor David Beeson officiating.

There was no visitation.

Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
