Joshua “Josh” Isaiah Mahmot, of Shepherdstown, WV, fell asleep in the Lord, on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the age of 15.

Josh loved the Lord and showed it through his actions. He was a member of the Youth Worship Band and former Bible Quiz Team member at Fellowship Bible Church, Shenandoah Junction, WV. He discovered his gift of music in the last few years and used it to bring joy to others. Josh was gracious and eager to meet others’ needs and ease their burdens.

Josh loved others and had a passion for making friends and doing the work to strengthen and sustain the relationships. He was consistent in making himself accessible and reaching out to others. He was especially quick to find humor in any situation.

Always active and on the go, Josh enjoyed the outdoors and keeping busy with unlimited amounts of energy to burn. While his time in this life was short, Josh took every opportunity to make the most of it by learning to surf, snowboard, and skateboard, going hunting, fishing, hiking, and competing in wrestling, soccer, basketball, and cross country. Josh was very well-known for his immense love of music by learning to play drums, guitar, bass guitar, piano, sing and lately, songwriting. He was a natural born performer.

He loved his family, and was the next-to-youngest of eight children. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Loretta “Lara” Mahmot; siblings, Gabrielle Meline, Danielle Johnson (Cory), Eric Mahmot, Jaryd Mahmot (Anna), James Meline,

Rachel Mahmot, Hannah Mahmot; nieces, Daisy Carter, Jayla Johnson, Vera Johnson, and Saphire Mahmot; nephew, Carter Johnson; grandparents, Josephine “Grammy” Moreno, Emma Jean Kennedy-Arney, and Jeff and Nancy Mahmot; Aunts, Kelly Brogdon (Chuck), Misty Sherman (Beau), Lori Latona (Mike), Carey Keiser (Ken), and many, many, many, extended family members.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur Brogdon and Thomas Arney.

A memorial service for Josh will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 160 Daniel Road, Shenandoah Junction, WV.
