Susan E. Secrist, 68, of Charles Town passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown.

She was born June 5, 1951 in Charles Town. She was the daughter of the late Cornelius D. “Bill” Mercer and Mary Virginia “Jennie” (Hough) Mercer.

Susan had been employed with Harry M. Stevens at the Charles Town Race Track in Food Services. Also, she had been employed at Royal Vendors and Shenandoah Lanes Bowling Center.

Susan was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Bruce Secrist, of Charles Town; sons, Christopher Oden, of Martinsburg, Eric Oden and wife Sara, of Inwood, daughters, Kimberly Rickard and husband Tim, of Hedgesville, Kandi Oden Thompson, of Inwood; 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann Heishman and husband David, Joyce Redmond and husband Charles, both of Kearneysville, Ellen Fitzgerald and husband Joseph, of Ranson; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christina Crawford.

Services and interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.

Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
