Helen M. Smith, 89, of Charles Town passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at her residence under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

She was born February 25, 1931 in Winthrop, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Elisabeth Alexanian.

Helen retired in 1991 as Director of Human Resources at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She graduated from Garfield High School, Revere, Massachusetts, class of 1949 and also attended Shepherd College.

She is survived by her sons, Steve C. Smith, of Charles Town, Kenneth A. Smith, of Martinsburg; three grandchildren; Bryan, Jessica and Casey.

Helen said “She was a very rich woman with the three jewels of life whom she was dedicated and devoted to.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Clarence C. Smith who died Aug. 4, 1994, her daughter, Stephanie Bernacchio and brother, Alexander Alexanian.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
