Fonda Vernac (Braxton) Barron age 75, lost her battle to cancer as she passed peacefully at home on Friday, April 26, 2019.  She was born on December 3, 1943, in Charles Town, West Virginia to the late Edward Henry and Alyce Virginia Braxton.

Fonda was a graduate of Page-Jackson High School, class of 1961.  She furthered her education by attending Shepherd College and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting.   Her loyalty was shown through her employment by working at People’s Drug Store for 8 years and The Department of Interior for 33 years before retiring as an Administrative Officer.  

Fonda was a long time faithful member of the former Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she was the choir director for the Gospel, Men’s and Youth choirs.  She was the Financial Secretary for the Administrative Council and a member of the Trustee Board.  In 2009, she became a member of Judea Christian Community Church where she served as the mother of the church, Chairperson of the Administrative Council, choir director for the Judea Crusaders, and member of the Trustee Board.   

Fonda adored her three children and her dog (Logan). She loved music, dancing, plants, crafts and being a caregiver to members of the community.  

Fonda is survived by her son David Jackson, of Ranson, West Virginia, two daughters, Vanette Jackson and Danene Jackson both of Charles Town, West Virginia, one sister, Vivian Mitchell, of Culpeper, Virginia, one nephew Brian Mitchell, wife Stacey and their son Brian Mitchell Jr., and their daughter Mia Lloyd of Aldie, Virginia, one niece, Jennifer Mitchell of Haymarket, Virginia, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 1:30 p.m., at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 6–8 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorial donations be made to: Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
