Beverly Anne Grove (Runkles), 87, of Kearneysville, West Virginia passed away May 13, 2021 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Beverly was born October 20, 1933 in Martinsburg, West Virginia to the late Elizabeth Runkles Swartz and was raised by her grandmother, Bertha Runkles. She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School class of 1952 and a member of the Leetown United Methodist Church.
Bev retired in 1985 from the Jefferson County Circuit Clerks Office as the Chief Deputy. Beverly left retirement to own and operate Fabric – N- Kids in Charles Town for many years.
Bev worked alongside her late husband, Paul Eugene Grove with the 4-H Saddle Club and Boy Scouts of America. She was one of the founding members of the Tri-State Quarter Horse Association. Beverly enjoyed working with youth and always encouraged them to give back to the community.
Bev worked to reinstate the WV Pythian Sisters to the Eastern Panhandle. After holding many offices she was honored to become the first Grand Chief to represent West Virginia at the International Convention as the Representative of West Virginia in Nova Scotia.
Later Beverly became active in the Women of the Moose #1028 (WOTM) earning the honors of Star Recorder and College of Regents. She loved her Moose family dearly.
When she was not working for an organization or taking care of family and friends, Bev enjoyed working in her flower gardens. Besides her children and grandchildren, gardening and dogs were her passions.
She is survived by her daughter; Paula Gene Grove Baker and husband Lynnie of Leetown, Cynthia K. Sperry and husband Jay of Shenandoah Junction, four grandsons; Paul Baker, Ray Baker, Robert Sperry and John Sperry, three great granddaughters Sarah Hartle, Willow Baker and Audrey Baker. All of whom she loved more than life itself.
Mrs. Grove was predeceased by her mother, and her husband; Paul Eugene Grove, a son Robert L. Gray and a dear friend Robert (Bob) Spring.
Friends and family are invited to attend graveside services Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Middleway Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Debbie Mooney officiating. A celebration will immediately follow at the Moose Lodge #948 Pavilion in Ranson.
