Wanda Carole Hardy, 77, of Martinsburg, WV, departed this life on Friday, August 21, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on March 24, 1943 in Russell County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Rev. Bernie C. Fields and the late Pansy Beulah Puckett-Fields.

She worked at the Washington Specialty Shop, worked in Real Estate at Century 21 Security House, Inc., Brawner and Associates and Long & Foster, owned her own antique shop, “Yesterday Treasures”, and worked as a caregiver in her later years.

She was of the Pentecostal faith and attended CrossPoint Church of God of Kearneysville.  Along with her sister-in-law, Lavenia M. Hamilton, they formed the “Sound of Country Gospel Music” singing group, The Heart Warmers, and opened for The Dixie Melody Boys, The Cathedral Quartet, and other gospel groups. They also performed Outreach services at the VA Center for the veterans, at the Martinsburg Rescue Mission, at multi-state prison systems, and at multi-state fairgrounds.

She is survived by her three sons, Joseph L. Hardy and wife, Jamie, Leland DeLane Hardy and wife, Laurel and William LeDane Hardy all of Charles Town; one daughter, Rhonda R. Hardy-Elmer and husband, Warren of Elkins, WV; six grandchildren, Ashley K. Hardy, Lauren R. Elmer- Brown and husband, Jimmy, Kristin E. Hardy and fiancé, Brad Merritt, Justin L. Hardy, Cordell L. Elmer and Jenna M. Hardy; two great-grandsons, Evan J. Elmer and Bentley G. Merritt, two brothers, LeLand H. Fields, Billy C. Fields and wife, Jamie, special god-daughter, Reba White, six sisters-in-laws, Lavenia M. Hamilton, Virginia R. Addesa and husband, Emanuele, Thelma R. Wilt, Ruth L. Johnson, Evelyn D. Jacobson-Cave, and Deloris C. Longerbeam and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Hardy, both parents Bernie C. Fields and Pansy B. Puckett-Fields, brother, Harmon Fields, brother-in-law, Charles S. Hamilton, sister-in-law, Caterina Fields, and daughter-in-law, Diane “Dee” Bajkowski, in addition to other numerous in laws.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.
