Melvin Junior Rankin, 78, of Charles Town, WV passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his residence.

Born November 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Harry Rankin Sr. and Hazel Rankin.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Juanita Palmer-Rankin, at home; one son, Mark Rankin of Martinsburg; one daughter, Kris Burnside of Buckhannon, WV; four sisters, Mary Ann Spinks of Martinsburg, Anna Mae Carter of Stafford, VA; Barbara Carper of Ranson, Linda Gates of Kearneysville; one brother, George Rankin of Winchester, VA, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-daughter, Sharon Johnson, two brothers, Harry Rankin, Jr. and Carl Rankin.

Melvin was blessed to spend 59 years with the love of his life, Catherine. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he touched all their lives in some special way. He always showed his family love and respect and was the true definition of a hard working man. He was a life-long farmer, a great deer hunter and an all around outdoors man. Although he is no longer with us, he will never be forgotten.

Services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Jimmie Williams officiating.

The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
