Edward Joseph Stanton, 81, of Ranson, WV, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Born March 9, 1940 in Hepzibah, WV, he was the son of the late Mark Francis Stanton and Dona Hudson Stanton.

He was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and various committees. He volunteered with Meals On Wheels of Jefferson County. He was a faithful and loving servant.

He had a successful career in the life insurance industry and represented several prominent companies over 28 years, setting sales records, receiving numerous awards, trips and conventions. When he retired, he continued his passion for the public by working for several companies in his community.  His work was not about the sale, but about making lifelong relationships with anyone he met, and that he did.  He also enjoyed old fashioned conversation, telling a joke, lending a hand, gardening, fishing, rummy, checkers, and cutting up with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Hartsell Stanton. He is survived by his two daughters, Kellie (Michael) Reed, and Elisa McCoy (Peter Vache); one son, Ed (Shannon) Stanton, Jr.; brothers, Francis (Beulah) Stanton,  Robert Stanton, and sister, Jean (Jerry) Kohr.

He is loved by his grandchildren, Joseph Ponceroff; Emily McCoy Bish;  Kristina Reed; Elizabeth (Austen) Mathews; Kelsea, Kinleigh, and Kaylin Stanton; Kylie Spessert (Cadin); and great-grandchildren, Annika, Emeric, Teagan, Alexander, Reagan, Logan, and Charleigh.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Dexter Ford, Andrew Stanton; sisters, Martha Harrison, Alverta Wilson; and son-in-law, Michael
