Lester Melvin White, age 92, of Middleway, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.
Born Feb. 7, 1928, in Middleway, he was the son of the late Margaret Elizabeth Staubs White and Gilmore Mhlore White.
Lester served his country in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. He later worked for 3M, where he retired from in 1987, and spent most of his time working on the farm.
He is survived by his three children, daughter Linda White Snyder, and husband Kenneth, son Lester L. White, and wife Debra, and daughter Velva White Jones, and husband Kevin; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Harold Eugene White and Norman Ralph White.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Frances Lee Smallwood White, brothers Gilmore White, Donald James White and Roger Calvin White and sisters Rose Ella White, Doris May White and Ruth Virginia White.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at CrossPoint Church of God, 3066 S. Childs Rd., in Kearneysville, with Pastor Bobby Brooks officiating. Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at South Berkeley Chapel, 287 Arden Nollville Road, Inwood, WV.
