Charles Junior Rickard, 87, of Kearneysville, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Jefferson Medical Center. Born October 10, 1931, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Charles A. Rickard and Esta Mae Taylor Rickard.

He served in the US Army and later was a bobcat operator for Halltown Paperboard. He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was kind-hearted and would help anyone. He liked football, was an avid Redskins fan, and loved to relax on the deck and tell old stories.

He is survived by two sons: Charles Daniel “David” Rickard, of Brandywine, and Stephen E. Rickard, and wife Megan, of Shepherdstown; daughter, Lisa M. Tobery, and husband David, of Kearneysville; brother, Danny Rickard, of Martinsburg, 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Louise Armstrong Rickard, and three sisters: Helen Harder, Elva Jackson, and Lenis Martin.

A funeral service with graveside military honors will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastor Floyd “Bucky” Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Chapel today from 6 to 8 p.m.
