On Monday, May 25, 2020, Frank Cavalier of Harpers Ferry, WV, passed away at age 90.  Frank was born in Harpers Ferry on November 12, 1929 to Kenneth and Charlotte Cavalier. After graduating from Harpers Ferry High School, he enlisted in the Navy for four years, touring the world on the USS Salem.  Afterwards, he attended Shepherd College (now University) and earned an undergraduate degree in Biology.  While attending Shepherd he worked for the B&O Railroad.  After graduating, he taught secondary education classes for a few years before ultimately starting his primary career as an educator for Harpers Ferry Job Corps, where for 30 years he taught underprivileged youth core educational requirements to earn a high school diploma and also a trade to make them eligible for employment.

Frank’s passions included reading, woodworking, traveling, volunteering and entertaining friends and family.  He was well known in the community for helping people and for volunteering for the Lion’s Club.  In addition to the Lion’s Club, during his lifetime, he was a member of the following fraternal orders and social clubs: Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Freemasons, The American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose, and The Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters (Mary Cavalier, Mildred Cavalier, and Nancy Perry) and three brothers (David Cavalier, Kenneth Cavalier, Jr., and Cyrus Cavalier).  He is survived by his loving partner, Patricia Whittington; his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Spencer and Jeanne Cavalier; his two stepdaughters, Stephanie Kable Spencer and Angela Kable Johnson; and, his grandchildren Kyle William Cavalier and Jameson Spencer Cavalier.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled to be held in September at the homestead.
