Cheryl M. Hawkins, 72, of Kearneysville passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Inova Fairfax Hospital.

She was born July 9, 1948 in Charles Town. She was the daughter of the late Stuart L. Miller and Virginia (Hott) Miller.

Cheryl retired after 38 years from the Jefferson County Board of Education as a teacher and administrator.

She was a member of the Charles Town Baptist Church.

She graduated from Charles Town High School, class of 1966, Shepherd College, class of 1970 and she received her Master’s Degree from Shenandoah University.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John D. Hawkins, at home; son, John Stuart Hawkins, of Charles Town; sister, Brenda M. Basore and husband Todd, of Shenandoah Junction; aunt, Norma Johnson; brother-in-law, Henry A. Hawkins; nephews, Sean Ott, Bobby Hawkins, Donald E. Hawkins, Jr. and niece, Elizabeth Ann Bragg.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg with Dr. Brian Hotaling officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles Town Baptist Church, 222 South Mildred St., Charles Town, WV 25414.
