Susan Elizabeth Hood, 40, of Martinsburg, WV passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at her residence.

Born February 1, 1980 in Ranson, WV, she was the daughter of Thomas Kay Hood and Margaret Mary Dutton.

She was of the Christian faith and a supervisor for the Loudoun County Youth Center.

Susan was a graduate of Jefferson High School, class of 1998 and Shepherd University, class of 2007.

She thoroughly enjoyed and excelled at being a river guide at Blue Ridge Outfitters and hosting tours of Harpers Ferry for the US Park Service. Suzy had a special place in her heart for the Special Olympics and animals.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Thomas and Charlie Hood of Charles Town and mother and stepfather, Margaret and Norman Dutton of Salisbury, MD; two sisters, Jennifer Hansen and husband, Tom of Kearneysville and Amy Civilikas and husband, Gary of Reston, VA; one brother, Tommy Hood of White Salmon, WA; two nieces, Cassie Johnson and Maddy Rushing; aunt and uncle, Eileen and Mike Hood, aunt Carole LaMenza, two sister-cousins, Becky and Martha and numerous other cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by sister-cousin, Karen Hood.

Services will be scheduled and published at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics and to the Jefferson County Animal Welfare Society.
