Agatha “Pete” Murphy

Agatha “Pete” Murphy, 97, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at her residence.

Born September 7, 1921 in Saugus, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Frederick Charles Pittard and Ellen Mary Joy Pittard.

She was a US Navy veteran serving during World War II as an RN.  She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, WV.

“Pete” was a member of the Harpers Ferry/Bolivar District Veterans, Woman’s Club of St. James, past member of the Harpers Ferry Town Council and a past board member of Harper Cemetery.

She is survived by nieces, Mary Ann Bradbury and Ellen Burns, one grandson, Logan and nephews, Peter Cove and wife, Susan and Robert Cove and wife, Lorraine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, daughter, Sarah Ellen Murphy and nephew, Frederick Cove.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, WV.

The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church, C/O St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV 25414.
