Charles Carroll Cheezum, 90, of Charles Town, WV passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Born August 8, 1930 in Easton, MD, he was the son of the late Elmer Lulonzo Cheezum and Anna Catherine Cohee Cheezum.

He was a member of the Roman Catholic Parish of St. James the Greater in Charles Town, WV.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean War as an aerial reconnaissance photographer.

Charles was an assistant postal inspector in charge of the Washington DC division and was a past magistrate for Jefferson County, WV. He wasn’t above putting his daughter, Susan in jail overnight, while magistrate, to learn some tough love.

Charles always served his communities in some capacity, including zone officer, guardian ad litem and free tax service for the elderly. He was always rooting and helping the “underdogs” in every community, he gave his life to service of others.

He is survived by four children, Debra Ann Cheezum Guerra, Karen Lynn Chichester, Christopher Andrew Cheezum and Susan Elizabeth Cheezum Schuster, grandchildren, Sean M. Guerra, Seth P. Cheezum, Larry Guerra, Ashley Cohee Schuster, Taylor Charles Schuster and David Chad Cheezum, great-grandchildren, Serf Guerra, Inicio Guerra and many nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by two sons, David C. Cheezum and Andrew Cheezum and two sisters, Dorothy and Phyllis.

Services will be held at a later date with interment in Quantico Cemetery.
