Tommy Vernon Childress, 69, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away at Reston Hospital in Reston, VA.

Born February 21, 1951 in Clintwood, VA, he was the son of Virgie Fleming Childress and the late George Washington Childress.

He was of the Christian faith. Tommy worked for William A. Hazel Co. for 41 years and retired as a punch foreman.

Tommy loved to hunt and fish and he had an old fashion work ethic.

In addition to his mother, Virgie, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Deborah, at home; one son, Brian J. Childress and wife, April of Harpers Ferry, WV; two grandchildren, Haley and Owen; one great grandson, Kayden, and one on the way, three sisters, Linda Humphreys, Mary Horton and Gladys Nuckolls, one brother, Kermit Childress and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Mark Compton officiating. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV.

The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 p.m.
