Joan Edwina Fowler, 88, of Martinsburg formerly of Charles Town died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 at her daughter’s residence.

She was born Oct. 12, 1931 in Charles Town. She was the daughter of the late John Edward Magaha and Lula J. Conard Magaha.

Joan had been employed as a Nurse’s Aide at the Shenandoah Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town.

She graduated from Charles Town High School, class of 1950.

She was a member of the Independent Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Ranson.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Orlando and husband Victor, of Martinsburg; sons, Donald Crawford and wife Sabrina, of Martinsburg and Steven Crawford and wife Heather, of Inwood; grandchildren, Shaun Crawford, Heather Hinson and Husband Kyle, Victor Orlando, II and wife Hannah, Jacob Orlando, Noah Crawford and Anna Crawford; brothers, John Lee Magaha and wife Wallis Ann, of Ranson, Gary Eugene “Gene” Magaha and companion Loretta, of Summit Point and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Fowler who died Sept. 17, 2014; sister, Betty Jane Emmert and brother, James Magaha.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 110 West North St., Charles Town with the Rev. Duane Jensen officiating.

Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 S. Fairfax Blvd., Ranson, WV 25438 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9 at the church.
