David Ray Rickard, Sr., 82, of Shenandoah Junction passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his residence under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. He was surrounded by his loving family as he passed away peacefully.

He was born Nov. 26, 1938 in Millville, WV. He was the son of the late Cecil Dewey Rickard and Carrie (Brown) Rickard.

David was employed for 39 years with Capital Airlines (United Airlines) in the Accounting Department.

He was of the Christian Faith.

David graduated from Harpers Ferry High School, class of 1956.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, Charles Town.

He was drafted by the U.S. Army and served two years in the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Ann (Creamer) Rickard, at home; daughters, Tesa Anderegg and husband Scott, of Charles Town, Denise Beans and husband Billy and Stephanie Smith and Fiancé Toby Mills, all of Shenandoah Junction; son, David R. Rickard, Jr., of Abingdon, Maryland; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Fleming and Carrie “Libby” Anderson, both of Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Hazel Lickey and Glenda Lickey; brothers, Marvin and Orville Rickard.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town with Chaplain Tony Pirrone officiating.

Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
