James Edward Woods, 85, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV

Born March 15, 1935 in Loudoun County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Jesse Lee Woods and Edna Baker Woods.

He was of the Christian faith.

James was a retired carpenter with D & A Construction Co. He was a past member of Friendship Fire Co. and loved the outdoors, splitting wood and butchering.

He is survived by one daughter, Virginia Darlene Holder; two sons, James “Jim” Woods and Jodie Powell and Eric Woods and Shelia, all of Harpers Ferry; five grandchildren, Melissa Woods, Diane Holder, Richard Holder, Casey Fauble and Jordan Woods, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Lee Santmier and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Longerbeam Woods in 1987, eight sisters, Evelyn Rollison, Pearl Morrison, Beatrice Fawley, Dora Hale, Christine Stonesifer, Bertha Sigler, June Harlan and Geraldine Pearl and two brothers, Richard and Oliver Woods.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Brother Dickie D’Angelo officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, WV.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
