Hilda Estella Staubs, 86, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at her home, while surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice. Born August 30, 1935, in Harpers Ferry, she was the daughter of the late George Henry Mellott and Bessie Catherine Tattersall Mellott.
Hilda was a member of the Bolivar Pentecostal Church of God. She had worked as a museum technician for Harpers Ferry National Historic Park.
She is survived by her daughter, Melody Wyndham, and husband Charles, of Harpers Ferry; granddaughter, Tiffany Govender, and husband Kuben, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Staubs, all of Charles Town; brother, Charles F. Mellott, and wife Sue, of Kearneysville; brother-in-law, Donnie Painter; sister-in-law, Barbara Cook, both of Harpers Ferry, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul David Staubs, Sr; son, Paul David Staubs, Jr; three sisters: Thelma Rosetta Courtney, Hazel Mae Vecellio and Mary Catherine Painter, and two nephews: Timothy Painter and Kenneth Lee Staubs, Jr.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Melanie Scarlett and Kira McLaughlin, for their dedication and support during this time.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2022, at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bev. G. Turner officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Chapel.
