Harvey V. Briggs, Jr., 78, of Ranson, WV departed this life on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019 surrounded by his family at the Reston Hospital Center.

Born April 1, 1941 in the Old Charles Town Hospital he was the son of Harvey V. Briggs, Sr and Kathleen Rickard Briggs.

He faithfully attended Charles Town Baptist Church.

Early in life, Harvey worked for Dixie-Narco and A&P. He also worked for his father at Briggs Welding & Radiator Repair. In 1978, he assumed ownership of the business when his father’s health began to fail. Harvey spent the next 35 years providing a variety of services to the community. After closing the business in 2013, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. He was especially proud of his first great grandson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rebecca, at home; two daughters, Tylisa Beveridge and husband Scott of Ranson, WV and Candace Wilt and husband Andrew of Charles Town, WV; two grandchildren, Cortney Briggs Brock and husband Andrew and Hagan Briggs Wilt; one great grandson, Oliver Briggs Brock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harvey was a member of the Harpers Ferry Alumni Association.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Dr. Brian Hotaling officiating.  

Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.

Repass was held at the Charles Town Baptist Church after the interment.

Pallbearers were Jesse Alger, Jim Newcomb, Frank Stanley, Matt Stottlemyer, Travis Jenkins and Jeff Hilliard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charles Town Baptist Church Building Fund.
