Douglas Lee Stolipher

Douglas Lee Stolipher, 76, of Charles Town, WV passed peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born on December 28, 1942 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Howard T. and Dorothy E. Jordan Stolipher.

He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1960, and he served in the Army Reserves #351 from 1963 to 1969. He retired from General Motors with 32 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy M. Chapman Stolipher, three sons, Mark Stolipher and wife, Amy, Stephen Stolipher and wife, Kristen, and Drew Stolipher and fiancée, Erin Groves; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Piper, and Ryder Stolipher, Reagan, Garrett and Oakley Stolipher, Clay and Corbin Stolipher.  He is also survived by his brother Wayne Stolipher and wife, Shirley, nephew, Mike Chapman and nieces, Mary Leonard and Jennifer Chapman.

Doug was a member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau for over 40 years and also served as Regional Director for the WV State Farm Bureau. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Middleway and past member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Rippon, where he served as Senior Warden. Doug served on the Democratic Executive Committee for the Kabletown District, in Jefferson County, and he was also a former member of the South Jefferson Ruritan.

He will be loved and missed by all and will be remembered for his dedication to the community and his love for his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Robert Shives officiating. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 159 East Street, Middleway, WV or Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
