Janice Dee “Jandee” Lipsic DeHaven, 68, of Martinsburg, West Virginia passed away March 9, 2021 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Care Facility after a courageous battle with cancer.

Janice was born December 17, 1952 in Martinsburg. She is the daughter of the late Micheal Myron “Sunny” Lipsic and Doris “Doe” Marler Lipsic.

Janice attended Martinsburg High school, was a proud member of the Bulldog community, graduate of Morgantown High School, Class of 1971. She was also member of the Martinsburg High School Class Association for reunions. After graduating, Janice pursued a career in nursing and was an accomplished Registered Nurse for 46 years. She worked at Jefferson Memorial Hospital as an LPN advancing to daytime RN-C Supervisor until her retirement in 2014 when she became an educator at James Rumsey Technical School. She was highly respected as a clinical nurse by her patients as well as her staff at Jefferson Memorial hospital.

Janice loved all creatures, great and small and found herself surrounded by many cats and dogs, especially ones who needed extra tender loving care. She loved Rock-n-Roll music and was often quoted that she regretted being “too young for Woodstock”, she loved her swimming pool aka “Jandeeland”, and adored vacations in Mexico.

Mrs. DeHaven is survived by her husband Dr. Denver A. DeHaven of Martinsburg, her daughter Megan Hooe Kern and husband Rob Kern of Winchester, Virginia, step-daughter Dr. Kristin DeHaven and husband Greg Brondos, both of Winchester, Virginia, two grandchildren Kadence Blaine and Maren Kern, two step-grandchildren Cpl Gus Brondos USMC and Wesley “Wes” Brondos, both of Winchester, sister Deborah Lipsic Hartz of Martinsburg and a niece, Erin Hartz and husband Mike Sosin of Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sara M. Hooe Williams.

The family received friends at The Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson on Sunday, March 14 from 1 to 3p.m. and 5 to 7p.m.
