Whether a majority of the Jefferson County school board members might have supported a specific timetable to review the board’s mask policy wasn’t clear from their 10-minute discussion on Monday.

School board Kathy Skinner, presiding over the meeting as the board’s president, initiated the initial motion. She asked whether her school board colleagues wanted to continue the mask mandate as recommended by Dr. Terrence Reidy, Jefferson County Health Department officer.

After about 20 seconds of silence from school board members, Kable agreed to make the motion Skinner suggested. But Skinner pressed Kable to clarify whether his motion would include a specific date to schedule a board review of the mask policy.
