Jefferson County deputies are investigating a suspected homicide this morning in the area of Smith Road in the Kabletown area.

Responding to a 911 emergency call at 7:45 a.m., deputies found the body near the roadway. The body was of a male whose age appeared between 20 and 40 years old. 
"We have no identification of the deceased and are working with a variety of other law enforcement agencies," the Sheriff's Office stated in a release. "There was no vehicle found in the area and this is a very rural area with no housing immediately near the area where the body was found."
Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty is asking the public to contact the Sheriff’s Office if anyone witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of Smith Road – Ward Clipp Road this morning. Police also want to learn information about any abandoned vehicle or missing adult male.
