It weighs a whopping 204 pounds, likely a state record. This watermelon is a jolly green giant, to steal a phrase from a popular food logo, filled with delicious red fruit and juices. 

The mighty melon took a grand prize at this year’s Jefferson County Fair. And it’s proudly displayed on the front lawn of Pam and Kevin Wilt’s home in Kearneysville for all to see.

Kevin said he first became fascinated with the idea of growing large watermelons as well as pumpkins when he saw a 62-pound watermelon at the county fair several years ago.
